were saved from fully auto-generated maps. No
hand made maps were used and no editing was done
to the map before it was saved.
A
great deal of work has gone into the map code
to allow this kind of detail to be auto-generated
as you can see from these examples. The map code
has been heavily tweaked to generate more life
like maps and to produce small lakes more that
has occurred in the past ( you may even see islands
occur ). While doing this we discovered a bug
in the original code that would have caused game
crashes at seemingly random times but was actually
caused by the code trying to place two lakes in
the same place. This has now been fixed.
Maps
can now be created as small as 20x20 and can be
expanded in 10 hex increments in both the X and
Y axis up to 200x160 hexes. These maps are fully
playable in autogenerated battles and campaigns
and as well they can all be hand edited in the
map editor
Map
battle location ID's are now reported. This allows
players to re-select maps they like or avoid the
ones they don't.
As
well, further changes have been made to the map
generation code. Early winter snow patches and
late winter thaw have been added to October and
March when show is called for. In addition, we
have tweaked the code that produces the road net.
