Do not add the 905 in front of the number unless you have Dos, Windows 95, or use windows 3.1. The best is to change the modem location settings so your computer will dial the area code all the time.
Windows 98, 2000, CE, ME and NT
- Double click my computer
- Double click control panel
- Double click the little phone that says modems under it
- Click the box that says dialing properties.
You will see the box that says area code; if it says 905 that's good. To the right there is a box that says area code rules - click that.- Check the box beside always dial area code (10-digit dialing).
- Click ok
- Click apply
- Click ok
- Click ok
- Close the other windows and you're done.
Windows 95
- Double click My Computer
- Double click Dial-up Networking
- Right click one of the Line-Tap icons
- Go to Properties
- Uncheck the "use country codes and area code"
- Add the 905- in front of the number
- Click OK
- Repeat these steps for all the other Line-Tap icons
- Close all the windows and you're done
Your fax and your internet connections should now dial the area code with the numbers. You should see the number that is going to dial come up in the dial box.
