Introduction
Cottonwood Mansion is a 6,000 square foot, fifteen room Italianate brick building. Its present mission, since its restoration and refurbishing beginning in 1988, is to provide experiences of the Victorian era.
It was built about 1870 by William Holmes, Jr., as a private residence. It is now a living museum, open for tours and a variety of other events. It is available year-round, by reservation, for private events (weddings, meetings, etc.). It is supported by memberships, fund raising events, donations and user fees.
Cottonwood is also a Genealogy Research Centre. It concentrates on pioneer families of the Niagara Peninsula. The Centre is happy to respond to requests for research assistance.
